Kindle Paper-white Review

I have finally got “Kindle Paper-white”. I have always been wanting to buy so this is going to be the best purchasing this year.

The screen is just like you are reading paper-based books, it looks almost a piece of paper and feels like my eyes would never be tired of bule-light.

And, the most important part, COST. I do not know why buying on Kindle is cheaper than getting an actual book. As a minimalist, not carrying heavy books are very convenient and once you get Kindle, you would never be able to buy paper-based books from now on!

Kindle paper-white costs about $150 which is a bit expensive for a student but I guarantee that the quality is totally worth it. It is a Must-Buy item for a book lover.

Be an Anti-Racist.

2020, this year brought an incredibly difficult situation to us. No one cannot see when it ends but, we need this to end. I cannot say things concisely and nicely, but all we can do is to be anti-racist. I am Asian, and I have seen many people discriminated and I have been experienced in Canada. About George Floyd, Japanese people think they are not related directly but we are related. We all are, regardless of any nationalities or ethnicities you are. We cannot just ignore it. This is about human rights. Every one of us must aware of this problem.

How to Keep Distance From Parents

Hello. I am writing this in middle of Tokyo even though it is on Sunday and I have nothing to do but escape from my father.

Yesterday, I went to the house where I used to live, and now my mother and my sister live there. It has been almost 2 years since the last time I saw her face. She looked way happier and smarter than she had ever been, and I thought that is because there is no people who gives stress to her. The decision of divorce was an absolutely right decision.

My relationship between my mother and me also used to be bad, but yesterday I’ve learnt keeping distance for a while really works to make the relationship better. I think it works for any kind of relationship.

I have been sticking in a house with my father for almost 2 months, and I have seen him acting up a lot that I would never want to see it again. It is really stressing. I was thinking that I would be able to change him by any chance but he is nearly 60, who could change people’s nature that has already been formed? It is impossible and it is stupid to take an effort for it.

It is ok to escape from something you feel comfortable with, sometimes.

To live peacefully, you have to make a choice on your own.

Things You Should Not Ask Japanese People

Hello, it has been days since I uploaded the last article. Today, I want to talk about things you better not to ask Japanese people.

  1. Ni-hao

Which means “Hello” in Chinese. I could not say anything when I heard that some people think Japan is a part of China. It is ok to not know about Japan but I thought it was a common sense. I know asian people kind of look similar but as long as you are interested in Japan, you are required to tell the differences between Chinese, Korean, and Japanese.

2. Do every Japanese women really moan like that?

It’s funny if you ask Japanese male, but it is not funny at all to ask Japanese female. It might be taken as sexual harassment. But, sure why not answering this question. Yes, the answer is yes. I have heard lots of times people moan, pant, like Japanese porn stars do in Love hotel distriction (if you do not know about love hotel please google it). If you are in Japan or planning to come to Tokyo, you have an opportunity to listen to free and authentic moan at every single night.

3. Why Japanese people are…..

Well, I don’t know. Like you don’t know about your country’s culture, tradition, or anything you can think of that are related to the country. It is just annoying to ask all the time.

I hope you find something new. If you have any father question, please comment!

Are You Stressing Out with This Situation?

How have you been doing during this hard time? I hope everyone’s having great time.

Actually, I don’t want to talk about it but I am writing because I want to leave the proof what my father did to me afterwards.

Today, 24th May 2020, he yelled at me and throwing things at a window in front of me. Before he did this, he asked me if I want to have some meat, and I said: “I am ok, you can leave some for yourself.” Then He yelled, I don’t clearly what he said but I think he said “Eat!” Then I went upstairs to get ready, then after I got back downstairs, he said “You don’t want a slice of meat, do you?” I was super upset that he yelled at me so I said “I don’t” then he threw things at a window. I have never seen him act like a jerk like he always did when I was younger. I don’t really know why he did that but at least I know I need to get out of this house. But unfortunately, I have nowhere to go. I do still have contact with my mom but I have not seen her for almost 2 to 3 years and of course I can’t flip-flopped on my attitude and starting beg to stay with her after all those years. I really don’t know what to do now. I was planning to go to Canada after I graduate college and without my father’s help, I wouldn’t be able to leave Japan. Not about money, I just need someone to guarantee my education debt. All I can do now is just be calm and wait until things get better. I thought I could handle this but I can’t do this anymore and I can’t stand this any longer. Yelling and throwing things, it physically not damaged, but it is as harmful as physical abuse.

It is the very first time he acts like a jerk since we moved together from the house we used to live with my mother and sister. I suppose he is just stressing out with the Corona crisis but I relearned that some people do not change their bad habits (or should I say “Cannot”) and never know that they are doing wrong things. I am very sad that I have never heard him saying “Thank you” or even “Sorry”. Of course I have never told “I love you” even from my family members. I have never seen people not saying 2 important things for being people “Thank you” and “Sorry” except my father. I am so disappointed that the kind of person I hate the most is my father who gave me a soul to live in this world.

As I mentioned, I just wanted to leave as words what happened today and how much I got hurt by this.

The Reason Why I Can’t Live with My Family

Hello! I’m Am.

Since my parents got divorced, I have been living with my father. Though I have been realizing that it would be difficult to continue living with my family member after I knew my family was too broken.

I have an older sister, and we’ve never had a chat like every sisters do normally… or just I don’t remember. But pretty sure we’ve never had heart to heart talk, ever. It’s been 4 to 5 years since I saw her last time. The reason why we have a very bad relationship is simple: She is not me, and I am not her. We were just “sister”, we share 50% same blood but we are different. Even if we are family(=kinship), it does not mean we are “family”.

I can’t thank enough to my parents. They have been sacrificed themselves a lot to raise me up. But it’s been too hard for me to deal with their hostile relationship especially when I was younger. I’m still living with my dad and I am about to explode. COVID-19 have had every one to stay inside, and some of them are in very cruel situation about domestic problem. The memory about my family was actually fading and I was almost forgetting any bad happened in my childhood. But the time I spend with my father has increased due to the virus and that evokes my memory again and again. It is killing me and driving me crazy. I just can’t wait to leave Japan.

Those who had similar situation or having right now, you will definitely be strong and resilient.

We shall be shining.

The Benefits of Learning Another Language

Hello, I’m Am.

How many languages do you speak? One? Two? Or even more? People in country which has strong homogeneity society like Japan do not speak any language except their mother tongue. But according to the data, the number of monolingual (40%) is lower than bilingual (43%). The rest is people who speak more than 2 languages.

I was also monolingual before I became a college student. But now I have been studying English and Chinese since when I realized how important to learn another language is.

Here are advantages of learning foreign language.

  1. You can broaden your vision, idea and even world

This is the most obvious thing that you can feel while you are learning new language. Language is also a part of its culture, so you don’t even have to visit there, now you can feel the culture through learning the language. My first language is Japanese, so it is very easy to learn Korean and Chinese because there are so many similar grammar or even words, just like Italian and Spanish are similar. It is really interesting to know that there are so many similar points in different languages and you can literally feel its history, like where the language is from. Those people who live in homogenious society, the more people know vividly how narrow the world they belong is by actually using the new language and communicating with people who speak it.

2. You get more confidence

Learning new language will definitely be a chance to change yourself. In my opinion, the most important skill is speaking when it comes to learning language. Through communication by using the language that you are learning, you could gain very strong confidence. It is ok to make mistakes of course, but most importantly, just have a courage to speak! I would like to reccomend practcing speaking skill with people who do not speak your first language. Because, if you know that the people understand your language, that ease your tention and naturally comes out your native language from your mouth when you do not know how to speak what you want to say. By practicing with people who are not your native language speaker, you will get more chance to learn how to change phrases or words when you do not know how to express your words.

3. You will be able to know how fun to learn something new is

Once you feel your language skill is improving, it makes the learning more enjoyable. It is not only boosts your emotion, but more adrenaline comes out from your brain. It is good to use some test service such as HSK for Chinese, to visualize your skill. If you have time and afford to travel just for checking your language skill, it would be good experience and exciting (and thrilling at the same). By the way I went to China just by myself to see if my Chinese skill works. As a result, I gained so much confidence and my motivation for learning Chinese is still burning inside of me.

4. No need to translate

Have you ever confused when customers who do not speak your language visit your workplace while you are working? It is super tiring to use translation apps or a machine to interpret a word or a phrase at a time. However if you have a choice to speak other language, believe it or not your coworkers will look up to you immediately. If you have routine to use a translator, better not to because it sounds awkward. Use your words first!

5. Traveling will be 100 times easier and enjoyable than ever before

When I went to China on my own, I was too scared to speak Chinese at first even though my purpose was to see how my Chinese goes. Because I did not have confidence on my Chinese and I was aware that my Chinese sucks and English is better, so I was speaking English all the time at the beginning. Then I met the girl who is from Germany in the dormitory I was staying. And I was walking around Shanghai with her unintentionally. She speaks German, Chinese and English, so we were talking in English. If I could not speak English we would have never be friends and vice versa. Thanks to her, I had so much fun in Shanghai! And also somehow I was able to speak Chinese in the end with local people, so I proved my Chinese is ok enough to communicate with native Chinese speaker. If you know more than one language, the safety level would go up even you travel alone.

So like this, if you know more than one language, it broadens your community and world. It takes you to a place you have never seen. If I forced myself to state disadvantages of learning another language is it costs and takes time until you can use it naturally. But learning language is one of invesments to yourself. It totally worth spending money on it. And there are tons of way to master the language. For me, there’s no choice not to going to English school which costs hundreds dollars a month, so I was hanging out with people who don’t speak Japanese whom I met online like after school or when I was free, to boost my English speaking skill. This way of leaning language is still minor, yet the cost and performance is awesome!

Anyhow, the most important thing is to act on your own. I hope people to be more open minded to experience language exchange. Peace!

Corona Divorce

Have you ever heard of this coined word? I often hear this word from TV news lately. I will explain for people who do not get what this means. It has been 2 to 3 months since *quarantine has started, and news about domestic violence or news about divorce has increased. The same thing is happening everywhere as well, not only in Japan. (*quarantine in Japan is not guaranteed by the government, so it is not technically called quarantine but Japanese have a high standard of living so people stay inside even though it is unofficial.)

Ironically, the corona virus revealed the truth that they married to a different one. Or it was probably obvious but there is no chance to get divorced… Either way, there is no happiness if they keep living with the partner. The virus has killed thousands of people so far, but it has also saved lots of people at the same time. The corona has made a chance to be apart from the evil and after the things done, it is time to move on.

Are you curious why I am talking about it like I experienced? Because I did when I was younger.

I know how hurt it is, mentally and physically. But no one will protect you, you are the one to protect yourself. All you can do is escape from them. I endured it for a long time instead of running away from it. But it ruins your mind, and eventually you feel nothing. It damages your heart a lot, so it is the best way to find a place to evacuate.

Ok, enough for my story. My parents are already divorced, not because of the virus but it would be way better if they could divorce earlier. Divorce is not as bad as it sounds, I am way happier now. The relationship between mother and father is always monitored by thier children. The more the relationship gets worse, the more easy to get stick to children’s brain. Like if the parents fight in front of their children, it will vividly remain in thier brain and it will never be fading. It is traumatising.

Before it is too late, please run away from it, whatever you are suffering from.

I will send tons of love to those people who suffered from any kind of violence…

The Reason Why I Want To Be Single For Life

Hello, beautiful people!! Today, I want to talk about why I prefer being single for life. I am single by the way, for a long time or should I say I have never dated with anyone… I had a little chat on the internet with friends weeks ago. We were talking about the topic “what are some barriers for Japanese women in business?”. Most of the students answered the reason why the higher position in a company is mainly dominated by men is women tend to stay inside to take care of their children. In Japan, married women who have kids stay home, on the other hand, thier hudsband work instead of thier wife. I think it is very traditional and it is imposible for have nots. So, if you are female, and once you get married in Japan, it is going to be super difficult to get promoted or even get hired. I have been wondering why people still want to get married even though they would cost financial stability. I was really surprised that some of my friends’ dream is to be “Waifu” which means house wife in Japanese.

I asked the reason why they want to get married. They say they don’t want to die alone… I could not understand what they said because humans are supposed to be dying alone… I think.

Here are the benefits of being single

  1. No need to pay attention to others. No fights, no awkwardness with people.
  2. No need to spend money on unnecessary stuff. Things like a present for bf/gf.
  3. Be able to have more time of yourself. You can concentrate on your thing.
  4. Be able to make human assets bigger. People make about $4,000,000 for life generally.
  5. Nobody will care about you. You can do whatever you want.

This is what I can think of about the benefits of being single. I chose to be single because You will not be able to have these if you are planning to get married. People might say how I can say these without the experience of dating or marriage. Well, of course not all people fit what I stated. But I rarely see people who married have a happy life. Usually, they make some bad comments on their partner. I ask them, “Then why did you get married?” They say “Well, He/She was not like that when we got married. He/She has changed a lot.” Some people also say marriage is a symbol of happiness. Like “I can’t be happy unless I get married!!” There is no such thing in this world. And now that one-third of a married couple is divorcing in Japan. Yes, my parents are also divorced too! Don’t worry, I am way happier than ever before even I am single and have no family members. Because I can be myself more than ever. “Marriage” is the biggest life event for anybody. There is a lot to commit and costs.

Is it worth it even if you lose your “property” for marriage which includes, your time, money, and son on… So, please, if you think marriage has benefits, I am waiting for your comment…

“How To Be Single” is now on Netflix! Literally my movie!!

你会怎么做?

The picture is taken in Shanghai by me.

The relationship between Japan and China, is not fun. I mean, it is just about the relationship between the governments, not about people. It is obvious, isn’t it? But I cannot deny that SOME Japanese people recognize Chinese people as “Enemy”. I was actually surprised that even my class mates also do not have good impresstion for Chinese. I have been to China a couple of times, and Chinese people are not as bad as they think they are. In fact, they are very sweet. What really make their impression is just, some of them act rudely, offensive and it could be anything that gives bad impression. What I am saying is not all of Chinese people. Whatever the ethnicity it is, people sometimes make mistakes and give bad impression to others. At least one thing is clear that it is wrong to think all Chinese people are evil. It is discrimination and disrespectful. If you still think Chinese people are bad, please watch “你会怎么做” – “What can you do?” It is about social experiment, you can see how sweet Chinese people are. And I have also helped by local Chinese people many time when I was in trouble in China. If I was a foreigner in Tokyo, and get lost in middle of nowhere, I think I would never be helped by anyone lol

And I am sad about “hate-clime” which often happens in Australia, Europe, the US and even in Canada. How could people are so mean? You know, it is 2020, and people still discriminate people. Even the president, whose name start with D, “The contra virus comes from CHina, CHINESE-VIRUS.” I am not even an American but I am so sad that even if people are uneducated and racist, they can be a president in century 21.

I really hope the relationship between Japan and China gets better… 我希望和平。
